Elementary Steps to Recover the Lost SQL SA Password

For simplicity we recommend you to take the backup of master .mdf file and mastlog.ldf file before using SQL Server password recovery software.

Step 1

After successful installation Open the SQL Server Password Reset Software and load the MDF File by using the Browse option.SQL Password Window


Step 2

A window appears showing master .mdf file. Select it and then click on Open buttonSelect SQL MDF File Window


Step 3

After selecting file the SQL Password Recovery Software display a list of SQL Server User Names and their passwords.

Password column displays two fields "Unknown" & "Empty"

  • Unknown specifies that the password is highly encrypted
  • Empty means no password kept for this file

On selecting the particular User Name for which you want to Restore the password an Alert message is arrives on the screen asking for the Backup of master.mdf and mastlog.ldf file. If you have already taken the backup then proceeds to next step by clicking on Yes Button otherwise please take the backup. Then click on RESET ButtonBackup Alert Window

Use NDF Options to browse NDF files for recovery.SQL Password Sucessfully Reset Window

Connect to SQL ServerLogin Window
